  • Sarah and Susan; I just wanted to take moment to thank you both for the tremendous job you guys did in making my daughter’s wedding so special. The food was delicious, the yacht club looked amazing, and the staff was incredible. Everyone that came to me or my husband or one of my daughters was so impressed with everything. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Bruni and Peter Muller

I am always trying something different every time I come because I know whatever I order, it is going to be GOOD! The homemade breads for the soup are always a great starter and the whale boats are amazing! Look forward to coming back soon!!

I would like to thank you and your staff for helping me to stay on a gluten free diet while vacationing in your area. We have been coming to Wiscasset area for many years, usually in October and we love eating at your place. Your cafe always feels warm and inviting and your food outstanding. Thanks, Lonnie and Barbara from Missouri

My husband and I stopped in last year for lunch and it was the best decision we could have made. The food and service was incredible. Unfortunately we live in Needham, Mass. and cannot get there often.
I was mainly blown away with your Blueberry Martini and was wondering if you could give me the recipe. PLEASE!!
Hope to see you all soon! Linda (Needham, MA)

      Sarah,
Your staff was amazing and the food sublime!!! We are still enjoying the leftovers but wishing a few more of those scrumptious crab cakes had remained. The cake...now that was without question the BEST ever tasted....we are all shoveling the remaining in and not regretting one fat gram. Absolutely wonderful...blueberry spice has our vote! Meg & Carl, Westport Isle. ME

      Dear Sarah:
We made a wonderful choice for caterers. Everyone at our reception thought the food, decorations, staff, etc. were excellent.
Of course we had one of the most beautiful days yet this summer. Thank you for a job well done.
Debbie and Don Snyder, Boothbay Harbor

      "Dear Sarah & Matthew,

    The Sarah’s Cafe Story

As a young mother, Sarah started out in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, in 1982. With two hundred dollars borrowed from friends and family, she made candy and pastries in her own kitchen and sold them to local patrons. Just one year later, Sarah opened her first restaurant in the Harbor, selling pizza, specialty sandwiches, and desserts. The business did very well. Many patrons commented that they “appreciate good home-cooked food.”

In 1987 Sarah, a hard worker and dedicated mother with strong family and community values, opened a second restaurant in Wiscasset, Maine. After a year, running both Wiscasset and Boothbay restaurants, Sarah reluctantly decided to close the Boothbay Harbor store. Friends and patrons missed her business, but were happy to travel to Wiscasset, along with many out-of-town patrons, to enjoy her fresh home-cooked Maine food.

To her staff, Sarah is a pleasurable employer, and working in the small town of Wiscasset is handy for mothers, students and friends. Many have worked at the Café for 5, 10, 15 years and more. Students have transitioned from first-time jobs at Sarah’s to go on to college or open businesses of their own.

Along with operating a successful restaurant, Sarah has raised her sons through college, and gained admiration as a local charitable contributor. In March 2002 she was named Restaurateur of the Year by the Maine Restaurant Association. Sarah has also received the Good Neighbor Award for outstanding community service. The entire midcoast community has a deep appreciation for Sarah and her contributions to her neighbors and the State of Maine.
